A New Year!

It's hard to believe 2010 is in the past. It went by so quickly and I was pretty busy to notice. What was once just doing a few arts shows turned into having my work in galleries, an art market http://www.yellowdoorartmarket.com/ , retail stores, and other venues along with a few shows. I also flew to Atlanta GA in July, where I did a photo shoot for the Spark and Hustle National Conference presented by Women for Hire and Good Morning America's Tory Johnson. I have had 2 of my photos used in promotional posters for exciting art events and also in 3 Michigan newpapers and a magazine, The Detroit Free Press, The Oakland Press, The Milford Times and the Spark & Hustle Atlanta Conference Magazine. I have co-chaired for a local art gallery, juried for 2 exhibitions, and donated a few of my pieces to support some very important events. The Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield is home for one of my pieces as well. Every part of my journey was exciting and a unique learning experience. I have also met many wonderfully talented people and some have turned into great friends.

2010 was also the year that I became more involved with internet marketing and social media, kind of interesting for one who doesn't like to bring attention to herself. Being involved with Facebook has brought me many exciting opportunities and I actually located some family members that I haven't seen in decades and met some new ones too, which I am so grateful for. It's always nice to learn more about and connect with extended family.

My very busy year ended with a terrible ordeal, where I lost my beloved brother Mark.  He is at peace now and surrounded by love. Never take life for granted, it is very precious.

So.........2011 is going to be a fabulous year as I see it. I have already started making plans for upcoming art shows and will continue with my work in local  and not so local venues, my online selling through Etsy http://www.imagesbylynnann.etsy.com/ and The Gallery of the Arts http://thegalleryofthearts.com/Photography.html, learning more photography techniques. producing some new wares with my photos (Jewely, journals and more) and plans to visit new, and interesting places.

What truly helps through my journey, is the support I receive from my husband and children, and I can't forget my other wonderful family members and my dear friends.....with your kind words and love, it builds my strength and my passion continues to grow, thank you.

I wish for you all, that this year is your best yet! Bless you all.

Art and Healing......

Photography is a form of expression, it can create and enhance a mood the same way color and music does. Looking at a particular photograph can soothe a soul. This is why I am planning on being involved with the Healing Arts program with the Henry Ford Health System. The mission of this program is to create a restorative and calming environment for patients, visitors and staff by integrating the creative arts and aesthetic experiences into the healing process. I am a big supporter of this way of healing. Positive attitude plays such an enormous part in healing.

Another organization for the art and healing is the Manhattan Arts International. They seek to collaborative with other businesses and non-profit organizations who share thier mission to help spread the news about the tremendous healing benefits of Art. Manhattan Arts International's "Celebrate The Healing Power of Art 2010" is based on the belief that Art is a natural force that promotes heath and well-being for the creator as well as the viewer. Please visit thier website and blog and help support the Art of Healing.

A Springtime Stroll.....

While enjoying the warm Michigan weather we've had lately, I decided to take a drive to the local greenhouse. The owners of Bogie Lake Greenhouse, Mark and Patty, are super people, as well as thier wonderful staff. Having an open inviation to come and visit and photograph in any of thier greenhouses, I took the opportunity. On a recent warm and sunny morning, I took a leisurely stroll through the greenhouses, taking a few photographs (including this gorgeous flower above), and appreciating the TLC put into every single flower, herb, plant....every single piece of greenery there. They should be very proud of thier accomplishments!

Who could resist this face??

This was my first year with the Arts and Greens Holiday Market and it was a great weekend. There were many familiar faces visiting the show and I met some wonderful people. I will definately get involved with this group of talented people! The atmosphere was inviting, with the talented musicians and sparkling Christmas decorations. The owners of Bogie Lake Greenhouse are some of the nicest people as are thier staff! I did very well with my work. There was one particular photograph that many commented on, please meet Chloe in the above photo. She is adorable and many fell in love with her face! I have also been offered to place my work in 2 galleries, this is a good thing!

Well, now to prepare for my next show in 3 weeks......
